Susan Shauger, OD
Dr. Susan Shauger received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas
A&M University in 1998. In 2002, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of
Houston with a Doctor of Optometry degree. In 2018, she became a Diplomate in the
American Board of Optometry; she is one of only 300 Board Certified optometrists in the
state of Texas.
Dr. Shauger completed internships with the U.S. Army in primary care and with the
Indian Health Service in ocular disease. She is presently licensed as a Therapeutic
Optometrist and as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She also serves as an assistant
clinical instructor for optometric externs from the University of Houston College of
Optometry. Dr. Shauger has particular interests in ocular disease, multi-focal contact
lenses, and pediatric eye care.
Dr. Shauger is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), Texas
Optometric Association (TOA), and Central Texas Optometric Society (CTOS). She
participates in Infantsee, a public health program designed to ensure that eye care
becomes a fundamental component of infant wellness care. She is also a member of
Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), an international organization that
provides vision care to people of developing nations.
Dr. Shauger grew up in Spring, Texas. She practiced in Phoenix, Arizona for several
years before moving to Austin to join Lakeline Vision Source. In her free time, Dr.
Shauger enjoys running, swimming, reading, and traveling.
